Welcome to Atlantis Preschool’s 3+/School Readiness Program
This program has been specifically designed for our children who are preparing to start school in the coming years and will equip them with all the necessary skills and knowledge to allow for their seamless transition into the formal school environment.
This program focuses on key learning areas such as simple mathematics, reading and literacy skills, listening and sharing skills, gross and fine motor skill development and much more! All of this is achieved through both play based learning and intentional teaching, following the Early Years Learning Framework which is also used for Kindy aged children in our local schools.
Through the forged partnerships we have in place with the local primary schools in Yanchep, we have arranged for our children to attend regular excursions to the school assemblies, to get a firsthand feel for the environment and routines they will face during their time in school. Our Qualified Early Childhood Teacher also works closely with the Kindy and Pre Primary Teachers to make sure that our curriculum is on track with what the schools are teaching, further enabling our children’s smooth transition into school.
Our Atlantis Art Studio has been designed to allow for our children to explore and bring to life all of their wonderful ideas and creations. Our educators bring small groups of children into the studio and run structured and also child initiated activities, including creative clay painting, animal drawing and painting on their art isles. This room is also used for other activities the children enjoy such as interactive science experiments and woodwork projects.
In our technology room the children enjoy a variety of different interactive learning games on both the laptops and iPads. Similar to the Art Studio, our educators will take small groups of children into the room at a time and help them work through the programs. The advantage of working in small groups is that it allows for a greater amount of one on one interaction time with the children, ensuring that the desired learning outcomes are achieved.
Main Teaching Room:
The Main Teaching Room is used for the majority of the programmed activities. Usually it is split up to accommodate separate learning areas, where the children will do activities to learn about literacy, mathematics, science and ‘Nature and The World Around Us’. The children will use these different areas to explore and learn through play based and structured educator led activities, enabling the children to cultivate knowledge and skills in preparation for their formal schooling.
The program is run in two separate session times, with each session focusing on a different learning outcome. All our sessions are eligible for both Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR). Please see the table below for the different session times:
